Dismantlable and repairable

In 1936, Mr Marcel Merle created a permanent sawmill site in Saint Vincent de Tyrosse.

Together with his son Jean Labat-Merle, Mr Merle worked on packaging techniques with cable engineers in order to make reels dismantlable and therefore repairable at a lower cost.

In 1949, they created the first reel repair centre in Saint-Maurice in the Paris area. Other centres subsequently followed in Rouen, Lyon and elsewhere.

This constant adapting to client needs allowed the company, now called Société Labat-Merle, to become a major player in the profession in France, as well as in Europe more widely.

Adapt to endure

Thus, since 1936, Labat-Merle has experienced a range of different incarnations. However, today it remains a family business and is still located in Saint Vincent de Tyrosse with storage and assembly centres close to clients, and provides all wood products and services in the cable packaging arena to its cable clients and European distributors.

Labat-Merle sells environmentally-friendly products created using carefully chosen methods and processes for dealing with raw materials, manufacturing and transport.
